For San Francisco Arts Week 2025, Jessica Silverman is delighted to present two solo exhibitions with Davina Semo and Julie Buffalohead at the gallery, and a curated presentation of new work by gallery artists at FOG Design+Art 2025.
"A Serious Celebration" is Davina Semo’s fourth solo exhibition with the gallery. The Los Angeles-based artist presents nearly two dozen new cast bronze bells suspended from the ceiling and polished and patinated bronze wall reliefs, celebrating the elevation of daily rituals to transformational moments. Ranging in height from 8 to 48 inches, each bell playfully reimagines traditional bells and is finished with a different combination of patination, texture, and decorative elements. Visitors are invited to ring the bells, which produce various tones inherent to their unique design. On the walls, light dances on the surface of polished bronze reliefs, visually echoing the reverberating bells.
"The Wisdom of Wild Things" is Julie Buffalohead’s second solo exhibition with the gallery, which features new, large-scale oil paintings that deepen the artist’s practice of storytelling through a cast of animal characters, such as coyotes, otters, and bobcats, in whimsical and often humorous scenes. Audacious and deeply allegorical, Buffalohead’s paintings engage current events, American Indian history, and personal narratives through depictions of animal and human interactions. Together they illustrate the complexity of everyday life and the ways in which we can learn from each other.
For FOG Design+Art 2025, Jessica Silverman will present “Understanding the Sky,” in Booth 110. This group presentation features new work by Andrea Bowers, Sam Falls, Woody De Othello, Hayal Pozanti, Clare Rojas, Rupy C. Tut, Pae White, and Margo Wolowiec. Through paintings, tapestries, and ceramic sculptures, these artists engage atmospheric themes to explore social and political climates and conditions for freedom. Artists in the exhibition look to the sky for inspiration—free-floating clouds and heavy rains become steeped in allegory. They remind us that to experience the weather is to connect with humanity, the natural world, and spiritual realms.
