Leonora Carrington: Mythopoesis
Leonora Carrington: Mythopoesis
January 21 - March 15, 2025
Gallery Wendi Norris' exhibition Leonora Carrington: Mythopoesis - the fifth solo presentation of Carrington by the gallery - explores the role and influence of stories and storytelling in the work of Carrington, from the fairytales that shaped her childhood imagination, to the myths that cultivated her subversive and satirical sensibility. In every work by Leonora Carrington, a story is being told in visual form, a drama is unfolding before the viewer. The exhibition features artworks that highlight how Carrington’s art making was itself an act of myth making, of mythopoesis, and how she created a universe that enthralls and delights, perplexes and perturbs, and remains endlessly fascinating.
