Where Art Originates: Curated by Mushi Wooseong James

Where Art Originates offers a glimpse into the early stages of artistic creation—before works enter galleries, markets, or institutions. Presented by the Djerassi Resident Artists Program and curated by the program’s Creative Director, Mushi Wooseong James, this project foregrounds the generative conditions that make art possible: time, space, experimentation, and the freedom to explore.

Sound Immersion with Danny Goldberg

Danny Goldberg shares the healing vibrations this spring at Djerassi, offering an extremely effective way to help relax, rejuvenate, and tune inward.

The Sound Immersion Experience with Gongs and Singing Bowls helps balance and restore your body’s energy. The healing vibrations pass through your body, opening blockages and allowing your mind to find peace within the sound. Through the vibrations of these instruments, you can experience an inner calm and deep relaxation that enables you to journey within and center.

About Djerassi Resident Artists Program

The Djerassi Program supports and advances the creativity of artists by providing uninterrupted time for work, reflection, and collegial exchange in a landscape of extraordinary natural beauty. Recognized internationally for its leadership in the field, Djerassi offers artists from around the world a retreat-like environment designed to foster experimentation, deep focus, and meaningful dialogue within a small, interdisciplinary community.

Each year, artists of exceptional talent are welcomed to our 583-acre property in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where purpose-built studios, trails, and open landscapes create conditions for creative risk-taking and connection. As stewards of this land, we are committed to responsible ecological care and thoughtful use of our facilities, ensuring that the environment that inspires our residents is protected for generations to come.

At the core of Djerassi’s mission is a belief in the transformative power of time, space, and place. Our residency model honors the interplay between artistic practice and the natural world, providing a setting where creativity can unfold with clarity, depth, and a sense of profound possibility.
