DJERASSI UNPLUGGED | 1-Day Silent Retreat
This one-day retreat for silence, attention, and mental rest takes place across Djerassi Program’s 583 acres in the Santa Cruz Mountains, inviting participants to step away from the constant pull of devices and conversation and into a day shaped by stillness, land, and presence.
Hosted by Tyson Fok and Maria Sperduto, the day unfolds through a guided silent hike, along with optional reflection and mindfulness sessions led by Michelle Lee and Maria Sperduto, designed to support rest and inner listening. A Japanese-inspired lunch and dinner are prepared by Chef Yusuke Konno. Gently structured and intentionally spacious, Djerassi Unplugged offers a rare opportunity to reset, restore attention, and experience what becomes possible when we slow down.

Artful Harvest
The Djerassi Program supports and advances the creativity of artists by providing uninterrupted time for work, reflection, and collegial exchange in a landscape of extraordinary natural beauty. Recognized internationally for its leadership in the field, Djerassi offers artists from around the world a retreat-like environment designed to foster experimentation, deep focus, and meaningful dialogue within a small, interdisciplinary community.
Each year, artists of exceptional talent are welcomed to our 583-acre property in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where purpose-built studios, trails, and open landscapes create conditions for creative risk-taking and connection. As stewards of this land, we are committed to responsible ecological care and thoughtful use of our facilities, ensuring that the environment that inspires our residents is protected for generations to come.
At the core of Djerassi’s mission is a belief in the transformative power of time, space, and place. Our residency model honors the interplay between artistic practice and the natural world, providing a setting where creativity can unfold with clarity, depth, and a sense of profound possibility.
