Opening Reception for Rebel Forms
Rebel Forms
Curated by Erik Barrios-Recendez
Resisting essentialization. Continually negotiating between contexts. These define abstraction. So too does it describe Latine culture.
In this “Rebel Forms,” artists from across the Latine diaspora demonstrate how abstraction has been utilized as more than a means of style—but it operates as a strategy of visibility. Form itself can carry a protest, shape can code-switch and mutate, and process can invoke complex histories of transformation.
